Cross Country

TRYOUTS:
Cross country tryouts will take place during PE classes sometime in September.    All students who run a mile fast enough to qualify will be eligible to join the team.  Exact times can vary by year, but the girls one-mile qualifying time is usually between 8:20-9:00, depending on their grade.  The boys one-mile qualifying time is usually between 7:10-8:00, depending on their grade.  If a student runs the mile fast enough and chooses to join the team, they will need to be medically cleared.  Student/parent need to create a HomeCampus account and complete the registration packet to be cleared (found under the "Athletic Forms" tab) .

PRACTICE:
Afternoon (PM) practices are from 3-5 pm and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, starting on 09/09/24 and ending on 11/14/24, unless there is a meet scheduled. Students must have an Athletic Packet completed to begin practice. PM practices are mandatory; however, if students are unable to attend or have a conflict with another activity, they can be excused from a PM practice by talking to or emailing Coach Fischer on the day of the practice. We want students who are involved in other sports and activities to still be able to participate in cross country, even if that means they will miss some practices. They just need to communicate with Coach Fischer. PM practices are: 09/10, 09/12, 09/17, 09/19, 09/24, 09/26, 10/01, 10/03, 10/08, 10/10, 10/15, 10/17, 10/22, 10/29, 11/05, 11/07, 11/12. Morning (AM) practices will begin on 09/09/24 through 11/13. They are from 7:15-8 am. AM practices will take place daily throughout the season, except for non-school days and days we have races. I would like students to attend at least two AM practices per week (unless they have a 0 period class). If a student cannot get to school at 7:15 am for practice, please let Coach Fischer know. For AM practices, students report to the locker rooms at 7:15 am and meet Coach Fischer for practice on the PE blacktop after dressing out.

If you have any questions email Coach Fischer [email protected] or                    Coach Goltry- [email protected]
