Cross Country Overview

Cross country is an exciting outdoor team sport involving where athletes must run through an all-natural terrain, two-mile course––Grass, gravel, and dirt is just part of the fun.
 

Tryouts

To join the cross country team, eligible students must "tryout" first. This process typically involves the school coaches evaluating students physical fitness, athletic skills, communication abilities, and sportsmanship.
 
IMPORTANT:
  • All required forms in HomeCampus.com must be completed before a student may participate in tryouts. If you have questions, contact us.
  • Students must complete a one-mile run within a qualifying time to join the team.
  • Girls one-mile qualifying time is often between 8:20 - 9 minutes, while the boys time is usually between 7:10 8 minutes.

Practice

After school practices are: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:10 - 4:30 p.m.
Morning practices are: Monday and Wednesday from 7:15 - 8 a.m.

For AM practices, students report to the locker rooms at 7:15 am on the PE blacktop in their appropriate attire.

IMPORTANT: Students must attend at least two practices per week to compete in all meets/races.

San G Meet - Race #1
When: Wednesday 09/30/2026   
Where: San Gorgonio Middle School
 
Approximate Race Times:
  • 6th grade girls - 3:30 p.m.
  • 6th grade boys - 3:30 p.m.
  • 7th grade girls - 4:10 p.m.
  • 7th grade boys - 4:10 p.m.            
  • 8th grade girls - 4:40 p.m.
  • 8th grade boys - 4:40 p.m.
 
Reminder: Bring water or a sports drink. 

 

Mt. SAC Meet- Race #2 (Bus provided)

When: Friday, 10/16/2026

Where: Mt. San Antonio College, 1100 N. Grand Ave. Walnut, 91789

Departure: 9:30 am from SGMS bus loop

Return: 7:30 pm to SGMS

 

Approximate Race Times: TBD

 

Reminders: Have your uniform on before departure. Bring water or a sports drink. Parents may bring students home from the race after signing them out with the coach. Students will eat at school before departure. Students can bring money to eat at the snack bar after their race.

There is a $10 fee for parking, and $12 for admission ($6 for students with ID). No pets allowed. 

 

Summerwind Meet - Race #3 (Students are responsible for their own transportation)

When: Wednesday, 10/21/2026

Where: Summerwind Trails School; 1020 Poinsettia Cir, Calimesa 92320

  • 6th grade girls- 3:00 pm
  • 6th grade boys- 3:30 pm

Reminders: Arrive 30 minutes before your race time to warm-up. Parents can bring their child home after they race. Bring water or a sports drink.

Beaumont Invitational Meet - Race #4 (parents drop-off AND PICK UP @ Beaumont High School down by the football field)

Mountian View Middle School race- race #5 (Students are responsible for their own transportation)
When: Thursday, November 4th, 2026
Where: Mountian View Middle School 
Time: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm (self guided course tour, must be off course by 9:15 am)

6th grade boys and girls – 3:30 pm
7th grade boys and girls – 3:55 pm
8th grade boys and girls – 4:20 pm
 


Diamond Valley Meet- race #6 (bus provided)
When: Thursday, November 12th, 2026
Where: Diamond Valley Lake Community Park (1801 Angler Ave., Hemet CA 92543)
Time: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm (self guided course tour, must be off course by 9:15 am)
 
Race Times:
6th grade girls – 9:30 am
6th grade boys – 9:55 am
7th grade girls – 10:15 am
7th grade boys – 10:40 am
8th grade girls – 11:00 am
8th grade boys – 11:20 am
 
Awards presentation: 12:00 pm
 
Leave back to school at 12:30 Ppm
