Cross Country

TRYOUTS:
Cross country tryouts will take place during PE classes sometime in September.    All students who run a mile fast enough to qualify will be eligible to join the team.  Exact times can vary by year, but the girls one-mile qualifying time is usually between 8:20-9:00, depending on their grade.  The boys one-mile qualifying time is usually between 7:10-8:00, depending on their grade.  If a student runs the mile fast enough and chooses to join the team, they will need to fill out an Athletic Registration Packet (found under the "Athletic Forms" tab) and turn it in to Coach Goltry before beginning practices.

PRACTICE:
Afternoon (PM) practices are from 3-5pm.  PM practices begin on 10/10/23.  Students must have an Athletic Packet completed to begin practice.  PM practices are mandatory, however if students are unable to attend or have a conflict with another activity, they can be excused from a PM practice by talking to or emailing Coach Goltry on the day of the practice.  We want students who are involved in other sports and activities to still be able to participate in cross country, even if that means they will miss some practices.  They just need to communicate with Coach Goltry.  PM Practices are on the following dates: 10/2, 10/10, 10/12, 10/19, 10/24, 11/3 and 11/7.
Morning (AM) practices will begin on 9/18, and end on 11/8.  They are from 7:15-8am.  AM practices will take place daily throughout the season, except for non-school days, and days we have races.  I would like students to attend at least two AM practices per week (unless they have a 0 period class).  If a student cannot get to school at 7:15am for practice, please let Coach Goltry know.  For AM practices, students report to the locker rooms at 7:15am, and meet Coach Goltry for practice on the PE blacktop after dressing out.

If you have any questions email Coach Goltry- [email protected]
